Will tooth whitening work for me?
Luster’s success rate is very high. If you try Luster with a group of friends, you’ll notice that everyone’s teeth respond a little differently, because—hey, that’s how humans are. Yellowish-colored teeth usually respond better to whitening procedures than brownish or grayish-colored teeth.

Is there any reason not to try Luster?
Luster is very safe, but you should talk to your dentist first if you have gum disease or dental caries, or are under the age of 12. If you have allergies or are on medications, carefully read the ingredients as you would for any oral care product (if you are not sure, ask your doctor). If you are pregnant or nursing, consult with your doctor before using any tooth whitening product.

What causes tooth discoloration?
Your teeth frequently come into contact with other substances—and some of them leave a stain. Some stains are extrinsic, which means they are on the surface of the tooth, and others are intrinsic. Extrinsic stains are usually caused by food and drink (red wine, coffee, tea, certain fruits and vegetables, etc.) or tobacco. Intrinsic stains can be caused by things such as high fluoride intake or antibiotics.

Why do some methods of whitening make teeth hurt?
While trays and strips can be effective vehicles to hold a peroxide teeth whitening gel against the teeth, the majority of people who use them experience tooth sensitivity. That’s because this method creates a barrier between the tooth and saliva and prevents proper tooth hydration. Luster eliminated trays or strips by creating a patented gel formula that stays on your teeth for the necessary amount of time and allows proper tooth hydration.

If you have experienced tooth sensitivity in the past, look for teeth whitening products that will not cause tooth sensitivity. Many products state right on the package that they may cause tooth sensitivity. Also, if you are considering a dentist tooth whitening treatment, check with your dentist first to see if you may experience tooth sensitivity.

Are Luster Products safe to use?
Yes. Luster Premium Whitening products have been clinically proven to be safe and effective. Luster is safe for you and your tooth enamel. No subjects in our independent clinical studies experienced tooth sensitivity, though some mild gum irritation may occur. If gum or mouth irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult your dentist.

Will whitening affect my dental work?
No. Luster, and all tooth whitening products, only whiten natural teeth, not dental work such as crowns, caps, fillings and veneers. Luster will not harm dental work. Luster will remove surface stains from your dental work (i.e. coffee stains), but would not change the underlying color of your dental work.

How white will my teeth get?
Your results will vary depending on the type and level of staining, your natural tooth shade, and the product you are using. The best tooth whitening results you will see with any safe whitening procedure will be as white as your natural tooth shade. (The blinding-white smiles you see on many Hollywood stars are often veneers.) Most OTC products simply promise “whiter teeth” without stating an exact shade difference. Luster Premium Whitening products completed two independent clinical trials and found that Luster 1-Hour White lightened teeth up to six shades, with an average of five shades. Luster Weekend White System lightened teeth six shades on average.

How long will my teeth stay white?
How long your teeth will stay white is based on the results you get and your personal habits. If your teeth get 8 shades lighter it will take longer for them to return to their pre-whitened shade than if they only get 2 shades whiter. If you want to maintain your results, it is recommended you avoid coffee, tea, red wine, cola, red sauces, blue or black berries, mustard, ketchup, tobacco products, and soy sauces. Or you could just whiten again.

What’s the difference between Luster and the other over-the-counter tooth whitening products?
Luster provides a superior combination of effectiveness, affordability, safety, and speed. Luster Whitening products have been proven to whiten teeth up to six shades (the average is five shades). Other OTC tooth whitening products do not state an exact shade difference with use of their products. These products also take 5 to 14 days to see full results. With Luster 1-Hour White you will see full results in one hour, and with the Weekend Tooth Whitening System you will see full results in three days. Luster products are clinically proven to be safe and effective. In independent clinical studies, not one person experienced tooth sensitivity with Luster 1-Hour White or Luster Weekend White System. Other OTC products may cause tooth sensitivity in up to 60 percent of users. Read the label carefully before purchasing any at home product for tooth whitening – on some you will notice the tooth sensitivity warning right on the box!

LUSTER 1-HOUR WHITE FAQ

How does Luster 1-Hour White work?
Luster 1-Hour White gives you the latest dental technology in the convenience of an at-home kit. All you do is repeat three steps:

Swish around the patented Accelerator Mouth Rinse.
Brush on the Super Whitening Gel.
Shine the special Whitening Light. It automatically turns off after two minutes.

It’s a similar system to what dentists use for in-office treatments. The patented Gel contains whitening ingredients, while the Accelerator Rinse and Whitening Light accelerate the process. Dentovations was the first company to develop an at-home, light-activated whitening system. Luster 1-Hour White is the first and only OTC whitening product to be FDA cleared.

How quickly will I see results?
Everyone’s teeth whiten at different rates. Luster includes a shade guide for you to use. Typically, you should be able to notice a shade improvement after approximately 10 applications, which takes about half an hour. For best results, we recommend 20 applications.

How much Luster Super Whitener should I apply?
Each dip of the brush will provide enough Super Whitener to cover several teeth. You can apply to as many teeth as you would like to whiten.

How long should I wait between Luster 1-Hour White treatments?
Since each treatment consists of 10 to 20 applications, we recommend waiting two or three months before applying another treatment.

Is it okay to keep re-dipping the applicator brush into the Luster Super Whitener?
Yes. Luster Super Whitener contains ingredients that kill the germs on the applicator brush. However, we do not recommend sharing the brush with another person. If you love someone, buy them their own Luster!

Is it safe on my tooth enamel?
Yes. Luster 1-Hour White is formulated to be safe for tooth enamel. You might possibly feel some mild gum irritation, but no subjects in two independent clinical studies experienced tooth sensitivity.

How long should one bottle last?
One bottle of mouth rinse and whitening gel should last for approximately 20 applications. The bulbs in the whitening light will last for approximately 10 hours of use.

Can children use it?
Consult your dentist before use on children under the age of 12. Products containing peroxides are not recommended for use by children under 12 years of age.

How quickly will I see results?
Everyone’s teeth whiten at different rates. Depending on the natural color of your teeth and the level of staining, the Luster Weekend White System is clinically proven to whiten your teeth after three days of use, when used as directed.

How much Luster Super Whitener should I apply?
Each dip of the brush will provide enough Super Whitener to cover several teeth. You can apply to as many teeth as you would like to whiten.

How long should I wait between daily regimens?
Apply regimen in the morning and evening. Just remember to wait at least 10 minutes after a regimen before eating or drinking.

Is it hygienic to keep re-dipping the applicator brush into the Luster Super Whitener?
Yes. Luster Super Whitener contains ingredients that kill the germs on the applicator brush. However, we do not recommend sharing the brush with another person. If you love someone, buy them their own Luster!
